Yesterday it took place the presentation of the Energy Poverty Observatory. This platform aims to be a bridge for sharing knowledge and a point for networking among all relevant stakeholders. We, EUAbout, were once again there to give our thoughts and looking forward to work with all audience present at the event.
We had the pleasure to listen to important public figures in the field of Energy Systems and at a European level. Personalities such as Maroŝ Ŝefĉoviĉ (European Commission Vice President for the energy Union), Jerzy Buzek (member of the European Parliament and former Prime Minister of Poland) or Miguel Arias Cañete (European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy) were present at the event.
In a first section of the conference, it was discussed the main challenges Europe is facing against Energy poverty: the need of a unique definition for the term, more and homogenized data or the health and environmental problems derived from the energy poverty issue were some of the most relevant topics.
In a second section, the platform Energy Poverty Observatory was introduced. It will allow all stakeholders to bring ideas together more easily. For a long time, it has been discussed the necessity of having comparable data across countries. We are sure that the setting-up of the platform will help us to accomplish these objectives.
We congratulate the European Commission for the steps done in that direction. We are looking forward to work with all stakeholders who want to contribute to fight against energy poverty in Europe and all around the world!
